In the last 25 years over 35,000 Cambodian immigrants have migrated to the Seattle area. They left a country with a long and culturally rich history that unfortunately was the scene of the Khmer Rouge genocide during the 1970’s. This genocide resulted in the loss of almost half of the country’s population and destruction of much of the country’s economy.

The Cambodian Museum was organized to educate our community about Cambodia’s culture and recent tragic history. The Museum has developed a school program. Museum staff and volunteers will provide a one hour program at the Museum or for each interested classroom at your school. An outline of this program is attached to this letter along with a Museum brochure

A temporary exhibit can be placed at your school to coincide with the classroom program. The exhibit is mounted on several stand alone screens that can be placed in an exhibit area or hallway. Follow-up visitations can also be arranged to the Museum.

We are now organizing a schedule for the program. We hope that you are interested in participating. The program will be available from mid-October through March 2006.
